Yong Teck Lee: "This is my promise to you, that our struggle continues and I will always be by your side"...."Trust and integrity of the leaders are fundamental to the future of a country or a government or, in our case, SAPP as a serious political party of the future"

--------------

This is the start, not the finish of our journey

SAPP president Yong Teck Lee accepts his first electoral defeat in 8 outings, and vows to continue his 'Sabah for Sabahan' struggle.

"Yes, this is my first defeat in Batu Sapi. But our party values number six as it means 'resilience'. You fall, and you get up again,"

"You will fight and fight until you win, until you achieve autonomy for Sabah and a better deal for Sabah."

Chong: Yee has done nothing for 8 years as a minister

KOTA KINABALU, Aug 12, 2010: Resources Development and Information Technology Minister, Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai should stop his blaming game on the Saham Amanah Sabah (SAS) issue.

Instead, he should concentrate on discharging his duty as a Minister of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government to find ways to solve the problems of stranded Sabahans in Kuala Lumpur and youth unemployment in Sabah, said Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Supreme Council member, Dato' David Chong Ket Sui.

Chong who is also SAPP Api-Api CLC chief said Dr Yee was continuing to mislead the people with his demand for former Chief Minister, Datuk Yong Teck Lee, to take responsibility for the SAS disaster.

Commenting on Dr Yee's statement during Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Tanjung Aru annual general meeting on Sunday, Chong said Dr Yee who is also a PBS Deputy President was doing this just to distract the people from his own failures as a Minister. What has he done for the people in his 8 years as a Minister? Nothing.

"Only the BN government can take this responsibility no matter who is the chief minister. In this case, Datuk Musa Aman as the chief minister should look for the solution so that the affected investors get back their money.

"Why blame Datuk Yong Teck Lee and SAPP? Why don't you (Dr Yee) blame Umno or any other BN component parties? Who are the members of the Board of Trustees of SAS? Who appointed them? Who is the Chairman? Does Datuk Yee not know? Umno is the biggest party in BN and has control over the Ministry of Finance, why doesn't Yee ask them?" asked Chong.

It was also reported that the SAS price fall was due to the Asian financial crisis in 1997 – 1998, which affected all the government-run trust fund shares as well as commercial counters at the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. "I fail to understand is it Dr Yee either ignorant or pretending to be ignorant by continuing with his obsession to attack Datuk Yong," said Chong.

However, Chong said the people was disappointed to note that while it was said by the State government that it has billions of ringgit in reserves and billions ringgit coming into the state but none of it was channelled to the SAS.

He said the present move by the State Finance Ministry to pump in two hundred million ringgits into the SAS was not still not sufficient as the share unit price, which at its height reached RM1.43 sen per unit, barely moved. Where have all the billion and billion of ringgit gone to? Dr Yee as a Minister in the BN government must take the responsibility to explain to the investors why the BN government cannot help them. "If Dr Yee is adamant to say that Datuk Yong Teck Lee should be responsible then hand over the BN government to him and let him take the responsibility," said Chong.
