Chua persoalkan 'dua sistem untuk satu sektor'

TAWAU, Jun 9, 2011: Ahli Parlimen Tawau Datuk Chua Soon Bui mempersoalkan rasional kerajaan mengamalkan 'dua sistem'untuk satu sektor sama berhubung pembaharuan pas pekerja asing.

Jelasnya, Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN) mengumumkan bahawa pas pekerja asing boleh dilanjutkan sehingga 10 tahun (5+5) bermula tahun ini, tetapi polisi itu hanya digunapakai untuk sektor perladangan 100 ekar luas keatas sahaja.

"Polisi ini tidak adil kepada pekebun kecil kerana mereka tidak termasuk (dalam polisi) sedangkan mereka juga memerlukan pekerja asing, malahan kebanyakkan pemilik ladang di sini hanyalah pekebun kecil dengan keluasan ladang tidak seberapa," katanya.

Menurutnya, pas Pekerja asing sebelum ini sah untuk tempoh lima tahun sahaja tetapi bermula tahun ini, dokumen itu boleh dilanjutkan sehingga 10 tahun untuk kemudahan majikan yang menggaji pekerja asing untuk ladang berkeluasan 100 ekar ke atas.

Beliau mahu KDN melayan semua pemain sektor perladangan secara sama rata agar tiada pihak merasa tertindas.

Tambahnya, para pekebun kecil, khususnya di daerah ini tidak sepatutnya dibebankan lagi kerana golongan itu sudah terbeban dengan keadaan jalan rosak yang memaksa mereka mengeluarkan kos lebih tinggi.

Chua berkata demikian kepada wakil media selepas melakukan kunjungan hormat kepada Ketua Imigresen Tawau, Ibrahim Tamsil di pejabatnya.

Beliau juga berkata bahawa Jabatan Imigresen akan meneliti kes secara individu berhubung pembaharuan pas pekerja, terutamanya bagi kes-kes belum selesai.

Ini berikutan berlakunya masalah sistem di Pejabat Imigresen yang menyebabkan ada kes tertunggak dan pembaharuan Pas pekerja asing tidak dapat disiapkan dalam tempoh sebulan seperti yang diberitahu.

Katanya, beliau masih menerima aduan daripada majikan yang menghadapi masalah tersebut.
