KL punca Ah Long banjiri Sabah

SIPITANG, 14 Sep 2011: Kebanjiran Ah Long dari Semenanjung di Sabah adalah kerana kesilapan Kuala Lumpur, kata Presiden Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP) Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee.

Yong berkata, Ah Long dari Semenanjung Malaysia mula memasuki Sabah secara beramai-ramai apabila Kuala Lumpur memperkembangkan Akta Peminjam Wang 1951 ke negeri ini beberapa tahun lalu.

"Saya telah mengutus surat kepada Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi pada April 2008 menggesa beliau membatalkan cadangan memperkembangkan Akta itu ke Sabah.

"Perdana Menteri menjawab bahawa tujuan Akta itu dikembangkan ke Sabah adalah semata-mata untuk membendung kegiatan Ah Long.

"Bagaimanapun, seperti yang kita lihat pada hari ini, terlalu ramai Ah Long dari luar Sabah beroperasi di seluruh negeri ini sehinggakan ada yang membuka pejabat masing-masing setelah mendapat lesen apabila Akta itu dikembangkan ke sini," katanya pada majlis Hari Raya Aidilfitri SAPP peringkat negeri Sabah di sini.

Katanya, apa yang menyedihkan ialah ramai kakitangan kerajaan di seluruh negeri berhutang dengan Ah Long itu sehingga buku dan kad akaun bank mereka ditahan.

Beliau berkata, para Ah Long itu didapati turut beroperasi di kawasan pekan-pekan kecil dengan menjadikan penjaja kecil di Pasar Tamu sebagai mangsa.

"Sebenarnya Kerajaan Sabah boleh halang Akta itu daripada dikembangkan ke Sabah tetapi Kerajaan Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah pada hari ini tidak berbuat demikian," kata Yong.

Katanya, Sabah sudah mempunyai Akta Peminjam Wang yang dikenali sebagai Money Lender Ordinance 1901 (Ordinan Peminjam Wang 1901) yang digunapakai di negeri ini sejak zaman penjajahan British.

Yong berkata, Kuala Lumpur tetap berkeras ingin kembangkan Akta Peminjam Wang 1951 walaupun Sabah sudah mempunyai Ordinan sendiri.

Katanya, situasi itu mengingatkan beliau kepada usaha Kuala Lumpur untuk memperkembangkan Akta Kerajaan Tempatan ke Sabah ketika beliau memegang jawatan Menteri Kerajaan Tempatan dan Perumahan.

"Saya telah menolak usaha Kuala Lumpur itu. Jika perkara itu berlaku maka rakyat Sabah kena membayar apabila membuang air besar kerana Kuala Lumpur berhasrat menswastakan kerja-kerja pembentungan kepada sebuah syarikat dari sana yang dikenali sebagai Indah Water Konsortium," katanya.
