KL bersalah masalah keselamatan di Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, 15 Mac 2013: Kuala Lumpur patut dipersalahkan terhadap kes pencerobohan militan Sulu kerana tidak pernah memenuhi tanggungjawab mengenai aspek keselamatan di Sabah terutamanya di Lahad Datu.

Bekas Ketua Polis Daerah Lahad Datu Kamis Daming berkata, Kuala Lumpur tidak melayan sebarang cadangan dan permintaan untuk menaik taraf keselamatan di Lahad Datu.

"Semasa saya bertugas di Lahad Datu lima tahun lalu, saya sering menyuarakan kebimbangan kepada pegawai atasan tentang kemungkinan berlakunya pencerobohan pihak luar.

"Pada masa itu pihak atasan hanya memandang ringan cadangan-cadangan dan pemintaan-permintaan kami bagi meningkatan langkah-langkah keselamatan di Lahad Datu," katanya di sini.

Kamis berkata, polis daerah Lahad Datu serba kekurangan kerana tidak dibekalkan dengan kelengkapan logistik yang mencukupi.

Katanya, kenderaan pacuan empat roda sering rosak manakala bot-bot peronda uzur.

Beliau berkata, lebih menyedihkan lagi polis Lahad Datu sering menghadapi masalah kekurangan bekalan bahan bakar kerana pembekal enggan menghantar bekalan sebab banyak hutang belum dibayar.

Kamis berkata, jumlah anggota jauh daripada mencukupi manakala ada pegawai-pegawai dan anggota terpaksa menyewa di luar kerana tidak disediakan dengan berek.

Menurut Kamis, ada kalangan anggota-anggota bawahan di balai polis Tungku terpaksa tinggal di berek uzur dengan lantai yang berlobang-lobang manakala atap bocor sebab tidak ada rumah untuk disewa.

"Apabila ibu pejabat polis daerah Lahad Datu memohon peruntukan untuk pembaikan, Ibu Pejabat memaklumkan bahawa peruntukan belum ada.

"Keadaan persekitaran seperti ini telah melemahkan semangat para anggota bawahan," katanya, sambil melontarkan persoalan "Apa yang boleh dijangkakan daripada mereka?.

Kamis seterusnya berkata, beliau menyokong kenyataan Presiden Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP) Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee yang membidas Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak berkenaan kes pencerobohan itu.

Teck Lee berkata kenyataan Najib bahawa insiden pencerobohan itu telah menyedarkan negara adalah sesuatu yang sudah terlambat kerana dalam jangka masa panjang kerosakan teruk telah berlaku terhadap Sabah.

Menurut Teck Lee, banyak isyarat telah diberikan sejak berdekad lalu tetapi Kuala Lumpur tidak memperdulikannya sehingga semuanya sudah terlambat.

Katanya, SAPP sudah lama mendesak Kuala Lumpur agar mengambil tindakan wajar menyelesaikan masalah pendatang asing di Sabah disamping mewujudkan kemakmuran dan kestabilan berpanjangan di wilayah timur BIMP-Asean selain memenuhi tanggungjawab Malaysia terhadap keselamatan Sabah seperti yang dijanjikan ketika Malaysia ditubuhkan dahulu.
