邓福恩吁国能与沙电考虑
建天然气发电厂

2008年11月13日（亚洲时報）(本报山打根十二日讯）沙巴进步党西江区联委会主席拿督邓福恩，今日呼吁国能与沙巴电力有限公司，在西海岸金马利建造300兆瓦天然气发电厂的同时，也考虑在山打根建造同样的发电厂，或在西海岸适当地区加建多一座天然气发电厂，然後透过全州电力连线系统，将电力输送前来山打根及东海岸应用，以取代备受争议的燃媒发电厂。

他也呼吁州政府慎重研究与考虑在山打根兴建天然气发电厂，或在西海岸加建多一座天然气发电厂建天然气发电厂的可能性，如果认为驳接一条323公里长的输送管输送天然气来山打根发电不合算的话。

拿督邓福恩表示，自从沙巴电力有限公司董事经理巴哈林汀证实拟议中的300兆燃媒发电厂，将在西昆杜区建造後，近日来频接获西甫架南亚新村及华美园居民的投诉，同时也表达他们的担忧，因为燃媒发电厂的弊多於利，同时更对环境与人体具有不可争议的影响。

他认为，既然可以建造500公里长的输送系统，将沙巴的天然输送到砂劳越民都鲁出售予日本与韩国，没有理由不可以在西海岸加建多一座天然气发电厂发电供东海岸应用，何况有关的全州电供联线系统早已完成及启用。他指出，山打根是自然城市，一旦燃媒发电厂在近西必洛人猿中心及附近人口稠密的西昆杜区兴建，後果无法预料，政府最好三思而後行，勿将山打根的前途与人民的健康作为赌注。
