 亚庇警方拒发准证
进步党和平请愿告吹

2009-02-18亚洲时报（本报讯）沙巴进步党向警方申请准证举行和平请愿，以促请州政府放弃兴建燃煤发电厂的建议，已遭警方拒绝。 

无论如何，这并没有打击及阻止该党继续反对兴建燃煤发电厂的行动，将会透过本地各报章刊登阐明兴建燃煤发电厂对环境所造成的破坏。

该党总秘书长拿督杨伟光昨日上午获市警主任苏菲助理总监告告有关的准证申请不获批准後发表上述谈话。

该党原定今日在通往沙首长办事处大厦前的路旁举行和平请愿，以促请州政府放弃兴建燃煤发电厂的建议。

他说："我们除了刊登广告外，我们也将会向首长提呈一份请愿书，坚决反对兴建燃煤发电厂。"

虽然未能获得警方批准有关准证，但是杨氏仍然感谢苏菲给予批准他们往後在室内举行有关和平请愿的活动。(080)
