Yong Teck Lee: "This is my promise to you, that our struggle continues and I will always be by your side"...."Trust and integrity of the leaders are fundamental to the future of a country or a government or, in our case, SAPP as a serious political party of the future"

This is the start, not the finish of our journey

SAPP president Yong Teck Lee accepts his first electoral defeat in 8 outings, and vows to continue his 'Sabah for Sabahan' struggle.

"Yes, this is my first defeat in Batu Sapi. But our party values number six as it means 'resilience'. You fall, and you get up again,"

"You will fight and fight until you win, until you achieve autonomy for Sabah and a better deal for Sabah."

Xin Chun Message - Year of the Water Dragon 2012

by Datuk Yong Teck Lee (Sabah Progressive Party President)

In the outgoing year of the rabbit, Sabahans have once again exhibited resilience by overcoming a year filled with anxieties such as natural and nuclear disasters in Asia, financial and economic crisis in Europe and upheavals in foreign countries. We were also faced with our own set of domestic trials and tribulations.

As we send off the shy rabbit, we welcome the dragon. Dragon symbolises power and greatness. Therefore, it is with high hopes that the people of Sabah look forward to the return of power and greatness to the people of Sabah in this year of the water dragon, coinciding with the general elections that is most likely to be held this lunar year. It is for this reason of economic prosperity for the people, greatness for Sabah and people power that SAPP has launched its "Economic Plan for Sabah" and "Land Reforms" that will directly and effectively benefit Malaysians in Sabah. The economic plan and land reforms will serve to uplift the socio-economic status of our people so that our people, especially the young generation, are sufficiently empowered to face the challenges of the future.

As in recent years, many young Sabahans remain overseas for economic and livelihood reasons. Our thoughts are with these young people and their parents who yearn for their children to be at their family reunions during this festive season. It is our earnest hope that in the future, these young people will find it financially feasible to be reunited with their families during Xin Chun.

I wish everybody a happy Xin Chun in the new year of the dragon!

Yong Teck Lee (2012 bersamaan 1433)
