Chinese Ministers not fighting for community

KOTA KINABALU 24 April, 2009 : Chinese Cabinet Ministers are not making efforts to fight for the Chinese community’s benefits, said Association of Sabah National-Type Chinese Schools Management Committee Chairman cum SAPP Treasurer Datuk Wong Yit Ming.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Wong said: “I and many others agree with Datuk Chin Su Phin’s opinion that our Chinese Ministers are not reflecting our problems to the Cabinet.

“For example, our Association of Sabah National-Type Chinese Schools Management Committee has found a location to build a school to ease the overcrowding situation in primary school classrooms but to date the Cabinet has not given us the approval yet,” he said.

Wong said many Chinese community-related problems could be resolved in the Cabinet, unlike some issues which need to be brought to a court.

“If we can discuss matters in the Cabinet, we will get more respect for our rights,” he said.

Wong also said that Chinese Ministers should side with the Chinese community because they deserve the benefits as what MCA President Datuk Ong Tee Kiat has said.

“Datuk Chin’s courage in speaking his mind is very much supported by the Chinese community because he reflects our hardship,” he said. (From the Borneo Post)
