Chong: Herbert's ignorance is a disgrace!

KOTA KINABALU, 11 Jan 2009: Assistant Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs Datuk Herbert Timbon Lagadan's excuse for not knowing Sabah Electric Board (SEB) was given to the Federal administration during Berjaya time is because he was not in politics then, does not hold water.

As such, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) called on Herbert to stop insulting the intelligence of the people who easily remember (that SEB was federalized in 1983).

"Such ignorance is a disgrace to his post of an assistant minister. You don't have to be a politician to know what happened to SEB," said SAPP Information Chief Chong Pit Fah in a statement, here, today.

Pit Fah said none of the current Assemblymen was involved in politics at the time but surely they know when SEB was federalized.

"Only Herbert who happened to be the Kadamaian Assemblyman and PBS Vice President does not know," he said.

He said that Herbert's party boss Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan was in the Berjaya cabinet then and should have known about it.

Pit Fah said the question facing Sabah today is does BN, including PBS, believe that SESB be returned to Sabah .

He said what else is the Barisan Nasional (BN) doing to provide Sabah with reliable electric supply?

He added that PBS leaders and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman have continuously expressed mutual admiration and praise for each other and the big question now is can they do something about Sabah's dismal power crisis.
