Dialogue with city cops
Kota Kinabalu, July 10, 2010:
Likas State Assemblyman, Datuk Liew Teck Chan led a delegation of about 20
community leaders and public transport operators to a dialogue with the
Kota Kinabalu Police station in Karamunsing on Friday.
The police were representated
by Acting City Police Chief, Supt Rowell Marong, City CID Chief, DSP Asri Jamaluddin, Senior Investigation
Officer (traffic section), ASP Mohd Mohd Noor and Officer-in-charge of
Tanjung Aru Police Station, Sub Inspector Abdul Samad Sumedi.
Among the issues brought up during the dialogue were limited parking
space at the Sabah Medical Centre (SMC), Damai Plaza in Luyang and around
the city centre, safety issues concerning taxi drivers, crime prevention
in housing areas and ways to improve the working relationship between the
police and the public.
Rowel reminded the public to continue providing information to the police
on any suspicious activities near or around their area.
According to Sub Insp. Abd Samad Sumedi, police patrolling housing areas
would sometimes give residents notices advising them to keep their doors
closed for safety of their property and from crimes. He also said that
some people were confused by these advice notices with summonses from the
police.
