Nod for second HEP
plantKota Kinabalu:
The Sabah State government has given the green light to build a second
hydropower plant along the Padas River, near the existing site at Pangi,
in Tenom. The State Tourism,
Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said this was based
on the understanding that a feasibility study is done on the proposal made
by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).
"We find the Padas River is capable of sustaining another hydropower
plant....(although) of course there are other matters need to be taken
into consideration like how much it will impact the environment, the
surrounding community and so on," he said. |
