Edward: People deserve to know what happened
Kota Kinabalu, June 7, 2010:
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Youth Chief Edward Dagul today said that Datuk Johnny Mositun is
once again, living up to his billing as the
mouthpiece for UMNO and Barisan Nasional.
"When no other State cabinet
ministers from the coalition, most notably none from UMNO backing the
Chief Minister, one can always count on Johnny to support his political
master.
"The people of Sabah deserve to know what happened to the
RM500 million State government bonds. As was raised by Datuk Yong Teck
Lee, "If we have RM2 billion in reserves, it is a valid question then, why
we need a bond of RM500 million for? Where will the RM500 million be
invested in?" Why is there a need to commit the State government to debts
due in 2014?
"Datuk Johnny Mositun seems to know more than the other Cabinet
Ministers when he confidently announces that the bond was for a "specific
purpose" and not "because the government is short of funds." SAPP Youth
wants Mositun to elaborate and explain what the so called specific purpose
is? We wish for the rakyat, the ones who are "uninformed and not familiar
with financial matters", to understand the mechanics and thereby the
wisdom of borrowing such a huge amount when we clearly have such a healthy
State reserve.
"As for the blocks L and M, SAPP Youth advice Mositun to verify facts
and figures before blurting out misleading statements such as "12 nautical
mile territorial waters".
"Is Mositun saying that Blocks L and M are within the 12 nautical
territorial waters of Brunei? It just shows how ignorant and arrogant
Mositun is but still has the audacity to come to the forefront as if an
expert on maritime territory or even Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
