Yong Teck Lee: "This is my promise to you, that our struggle continues and I will always be by your side"...."Trust and integrity of the leaders are fundamental to the future of a country or a government or, in our case, SAPP as a serious political party of the future"

This is the start, not the finish of our journey

SAPP president Yong Teck Lee accepts his first electoral defeat in 8 outings, and vows to continue his 'Sabah for Sabahan' struggle.

"Yes, this is my first defeat in Batu Sapi. But our party values number six as it means 'resilience'. You fall, and you get up again,"

"You will fight and fight until you win, until you achieve autonomy for Sabah and a better deal for Sabah."

Decades old issue yet no idea how to deal with it

Kota Kinabalu, July 29, 2010: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Secretary-General Datuk Richard Yong We Kong said it is regrettable that Party Bersatu Sabah's Information Chief, Datuk Johnny Mositun harping on a 30-year old issue concerning illegal immigrants but still having no idea what to do with it.

"It is however, amusing that Datuk Johnny is now asking SAPP to contribute lasting solution to this problem as if the government's Special Laboratory is not doing enough.

"I wish to remind Datuk Johnny that each time SAPP made statement we always included our points of view and suggestions. As on the case of illegal immigrants SAPP had submitted whole lists of suggestions to the Prime Minister and also to the Chief Minister of Sabah way back in 2006.

"It was like all the proposals and suggestions had fallen into deaf ear. That was the reason why we said what is lacking is actually the sincerity and political-will on the part of the BN Government to tackle this issue.

"Datuk Johnny said PBS had never wavered from its position on the issue and insisted that illegals must be detained and deported. Detain and deport has been continually carried out and yet the problem had persisted.

"If Datuk Johnny still believes that by just harping will help solve the problems then I am sorry to say that he sounds very much self-deceptive. The general public will not believe in this rhetoric any more.

"If the government after facing a 30 years issue and still do not have clue on how to resolve it then the government should be held responsible for their failure.
