Call for Philippines Consulate in Sabah

Kota Kinabalu, Apr 23, 2009: Likas Assemblyman Datuk Liew Teck Chan said in the spirit of Asean, the Philippines should set up a consulate in Sabah to deal with the problems faced by its citizens.

He said the proposal had already been handed over to the top federal leadership in 2006.

He told the State Assembly here yesterday that the government faced difficulties to repatriate those rounded up by the authorities as they were without documents.

Liew said he believed the newly appointed Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman would help on the matter.
