Pesta Kaamatan Kg Serudung Baru, Tawau
 Tawau,
May 11, 2009: Pesta Kelapadan/Kaamatan 2009 (harvest festival) at Kg Serudung baru
in Balung, Tawau organised by the SAPP Kg Serudung Baru branch had attracted more than 500 people from
Kg Serudung, Kalabakan and Serudung Laut. People living around these
areas included the Muruts,
Ibans, Kadazans and other local communities.Event was officiated by YB Datuk Chua Soon Bui,
Member of Parliament for Tawau.
Highlight of the celebration was the Ratu Matalur (Harvest
Beauty Pageant) competition in which all the participants are
from Kg. Serudung baru.
The Beauty Queen
crown was won by Christine Michael Augustine while runner-up went to Vivian Christine Martin and
second runner-up was Livia Simboh.
The Pesta Kelapadan/Kaamatan started with Bintang
Kelapadan ( Murut, Iban, Kadazan singing competition). Rahel
Pangisik won the singing contest while Hermyza Sulang and Hana Ester took second
and third places. Prizes were presented by Mr. CK Yong.
The pipe-blowing
competition was won by Jamal. Saimon and Pawal took the second and
third place respectively. Prizes were presented by Mr. Kenneth Goh.
The Kg. Serudung Baru
came alive with the Harvest Festival organized by SAPP for the 4th
time and a time of
the year where the local community gathered together in such a big crowd.
