Rural Internet Centre project abandoned
Tenom, August 26, 2010: Investigations should be carried out on the
construction of the Internet Centre in Kg Pulong Village, about 15
kilometers from here.
With the completion of this Rural Internet Centre (Pusat Internet
Desa), people of the area can enjoy or improve the standard of
computer literacy.
Unfortunately the construction work on the project was abandoned
since 2008.
Vice President of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), Jimmy Jawatah, said the
contractor stopped work half way could be caused by the possibility that
the project has shifted hands few times too many until the last
subcontractor was no longer able even to cover the actual cost of
construction.
Jimmy then asked the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications (KTAK),
which responsible for appointing the contractor to find ways to complete
the construction of village Internet facilities.
Pusat Internet Desa is needed in the villages for the benefit of the
people and the youth for gaining more knowledge via cyber space. |
